The removal of toxic metals from liquid effluents by ion exchange resins. Part XVII: Arsenic(V)/H+/Dowex 1x8

The performance of anionic exchange resin Dowex 1x8 in the removal arsenic(V) from aqueous solutions was investigated. Batch experimentation carried out under different variables, including, stirring speed applied on system, pH solution, dosage and temperature. Due to characteristic speciation phases, this element solution is negligible at highly acidic or alkaline values, but it possible range 4-9, thus, both HAsO42- H2AsO4- species are loaded onto resin. At above range, uptake exothermic. Different models fitted experimental values order gain knowledge about ion system: rate law, kinetics solute loading This compared against yielded using non-functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes. elution step investigated (HCl medium) as eluent, eluted solutions, can be efficiently stabilized ferric calcium arsenates.
